ANSWER

(What it is)

On my 18th birthday, I was gifted with a Dell laptop and ever since, it has been of indispensable importance to me. I got it about a year ago and the laptop is still in good shape. I had a very basic knowledge of computers but after I got this laptop, I acquired a wider range of knowledge and skills. The laptop was a black color thin one with a 16-inch display and less than a kilo in weight. I usually spend 2-3 hours daily on my laptop and it is very helpful for me to learn using the graphics designing and Auto CAD software I am currently working on.

(When and how your family had it)

The laptop was from my parents, so it represents a lot of significance to me and them. Realizing my passion for computers, they tried to set aside money by working overtime and bought it for me when I turned 18. Because they have quite a limited understanding of technology, they did a lot of searching for the best laptop for my convenience. I still remember the feeling when receiving this meaningful present, one which filled me with surprise and gratitude. Although the laptop seemed affordable to most families, it cost a fortune to my family at that time.

(And explain why it is important for your family)

This gift is very important for me and my family. In today’s world, the knowledge of computing and the related skills are really vital and that’s why it is an important gift for me. Moreover, the laptop was quite handy for me. I could search the internet, get help for my studies and learn many new things from it. I connect to the internet using this laptop and I can communicate with my friends and relatives easily. Needless to say, the laptop helps me a lot with my higher studies as well as the career I am pursuing, which is computer engineering. Even though I have bought a new one for my job, my family have still kept it to remember how difficult life was at that time and to appreciate everything we have to work hard to earn.
